Family Tech is not a typical computer store. For a start, we don't sell computers!

With so many companies selling PCs and laptops, cutting prices and offering unbeatable deals, we noticed something was missing -- customer service.

Family Tech is about helping you after you've been to chain stores, got the great deals, but still need some help in setting things up, making things work together, and fixing them when they break.

Here are some of the things we do:

  • Help you select the right gear and where to buy it.
  • Set up and install that new PC or laptop.
  • Transfer your data from one machine to another.
  • Repair a broken computer that's out of warranty.
  • Fix problems with virus' and spyware.
  • In-Home visits to fix equipment you can't bring in.
  • Set up your internet, email or home network.
  • Install printers, modems and other gadgets.
  • Connect your TV, DVD and Set-top box.
  • Assess and report on insurance claims.
  • Recyle unwanted computer gear.

We also stock a selected range of parts and accessories so you can get what you need.

We are a real shop, centrally located, with convenient parking, a fully equipped workshop and full-time technicians. Registered customers enjoy benefits such as a service history workbook, home visits, access to our web store, and 14 days to pay invoicing.

Hint: Its always best to have a computer under warrenty repaired by the warrenty agent.

Common Questions

Do you sell computers and laptops?

No we don't. Few people need a specialised computer these days, and the chain stores have an excellent range of reliable systems to suit most people.

Why would we come to Family Tech?

People need help choosing a system thats right for them. There are a lot of options and many of them are confusing or sound the same. Getting the right gear means getting the right advice. Its easier to get that from someone who isn't trying to sell you something.

Do you set up computers?

Yes we do. Many people think the system they buy is ready to use right away. Usually its not. You'll likely need software installed and configured to use your email, documents, pictures and music, and have those transferred from your old machine. It can take several hours to get it right. Most stores just sell you the computer.

What happens if I buy my gear elsewhere?

Its natural to want a good deal, so people will shop around to get it, but many stores won't help you with equipment purchased elsewhere. That can leave you stranded. We're the people to see if you get stuck, because we just want to fix your problem.

Do you sell inks, cables and other accessories?

Yes, we have a range of selected supplies and accessories in oiur store.

Why 'a selected range of accessories'?

We believe having the right answer is important, so instead of 10 items that do the same job, we stock a few that are the best value. We review out range constantly to give you a choice of the best value items at the time.

Do you do special orders?

No we don't. Our staff is trained on what we sell, and we sell what is the best value at the time. If you need something special, we'll help you find a store that sells it.

Why is customer registration required?

You need to register as a customer to use our workshop or have a home visit. Your customer card gives you a limited account to invoice purchases or work done, and allows us to keep a service history and speeds warrenty returns. These facilities have certain terms and conditions, which why you need to register.

Do registered customers get a discount?

There are sometimes discounts, promotions or other rewards only available to registered customers.

Can I just walk in a buy something?

Of course! Anyone can buy from our store at any time as a normal sale.
